Calculations run in your browser. Optional purchases require billing information. Planning data stays on your device unless you link a plan, generate its PDF or email it. Analytics measures visits and actions.

Calculator and saved setups

The free calculators require no account. The Calculator remembers your unit preference in local storage in this browser, so returning to it keeps your choice. Their setup links can contain screen specifications, distances and display names, so avoid private information in names. The plan preview keeps a temporary draft in this tab’s session storage so a refresh does not discard your edits. Transferring a setup between pages also uses session storage, with a URL fragment as a fallback when storage is unavailable. Setup measurements are not sent to checkout. The planning pack stores named setups in your browser’s local storage. Download backups before clearing browser data; importing a plan happens on your device, and its Mounting plan PDF is drawn on DisplayMath's own server (see below). Room measurements and saved setup names are not sent to the payment service.

Continuing a plan on your phone

The planning page can show a QR code that opens the same plan on your phone, so the AR preview and a photo of your wall can be done there while the computer follows along. Only while a plan is linked this way, the plan (display names, screen specifications, room measurements and any mounting checklist answers you wrote in, which can include the names in its sign-off) and any wall photos attached to it are sent to DisplayMath's own server, so that each device can read what the other changed. They are deleted 24 hours after the last change, or immediately when either device chooses Stop linking. The link itself is the only key: the server stores a one-way hash of it, has no account or email to connect it to, does not log it or the plan, and never shares or analyses the contents. Anyone holding the link can open and edit the plan until it expires, so share it only with your own devices. A device that has bought the planning pack also passes its unlock over the link: the purchase server records a one-way hash of the link against the order, for as long as the link lasts, and up to four linked devices are unlocked by it. The payment service never sees the plan or the photos.

Your mounting plan

When you preview, download, share or print your Mounting plan, the page sends the plan (display names, screen specifications, room measurements and any mounting checklist answers you wrote in, which can include the names in its sign-off) and any wall photos to DisplayMath's own server, which draws the PDF and sends it back. It is drawn for that request only: the plan and photos are not stored, and the log records only how many pages were drawn. When a planning pack purchase completes, and whenever you choose Email me the plan and backup, the same plan goes to DisplayMath's purchase server, which has the PDF drawn and emails it, with a backup of the plan and a short text of the heights, to the address you used at checkout, looked up from the payment service. They are sent through our email provider and not stored by DisplayMath; the email itself stays in your mailbox and our provider's delivery records. It is never sent to any other address.

Purchases and restoration

When purchases are enabled, Paddle processes checkout and collects billing details as merchant of record. DisplayMath keeps the transaction and customer identifiers, payment status, currency, amounts, campaign attribution and a keyed hash of the checkout email to restore access. It does not store card details. A purchase-access cookie is HttpOnly and lasts up to 180 days; it is used for access, not advertising. You can sign in to your purchase on any browser with a link sent to your checkout email; sign-in links are single-use and expire after 15 minutes. So that you can see and sign out the browsers signed in to your purchase, each one is listed with a coarse name (such as Chrome on Windows), when it was signed in and when it was last active, never its IP address; the list also shows your address masked, such as a•••@gmail.com. Email submitted for restoration is sent through our email provider and is not added to a mailing list. Financial records are retained as required for accounting; expired access and restore tokens are removed during use. Refunds revoke future paid access.

Multi-monitor setups

The monitor setup tool automatically saves drafts, named setups and preferences in your browser's local storage. Backups are files you download to your device. Nothing is uploaded until you create a share link, prepare an AR preview or submit an example.

Sharing and AR preparation store a fixed copy on DisplayMath's server. It includes the monitor specifications, physical positions, frame colors, setup name and description. Notes, product links and wallpaper URLs are excluded unless you choose to include them in a share link. Anyone with a shared link can read that copy. Shared copies remain until removed, including after later changes to your local setup. A removal key is saved in your browser under Saved setups, Manage shared copies. Removing a shared copy also disables its model links. Export a removal-key backup before clearing browser storage; contact us if you have lost access to a copy you need removed.

Community submissions contain the monitor arrangement, name and description. They exclude notes, product links and wallpaper URLs, are stored for review and become public only after approval. You can contact us to withdraw a submission. Public examples stay available until withdrawn or removed.

Wallpaper previews load images directly from the address you enter, so that image host receives your network request. DisplayMath does not download external wallpapers on its servers. Opening a monitor search sends its technical search terms to the provider you select. AR viewers receive a generated model of the physical arrangement. Setup contents and removal keys are excluded from our application logs and feature events.

Analytics

To learn which features are used, the site loads two lightweight analytics scripts: a self-hosted Umami instance at stats.displaymath.com, and Ahrefs Web Analytics. Neither sets cookies, neither builds a profile across sites, and both aggregate page views and clicks rather than identifying people. Umami additionally records which controls are used, such as switching a canvas view. Umami records page addresses without their query string, so the setup the calculator writes into the address never reaches it. The one exception is the five standard campaign labels a link can carry to say where it came from (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term): these are read when the page opens and recorded with the visit, so a referral from a search engine, an assistant or a campaign can be told apart from someone typing the address. They describe the link that was followed, not the person who followed it, and nothing else from the query string is ever recorded. Ahrefs records the address a visit lands on, which for a shared link includes the comparison it encodes, but not the edits made after that. IP addresses are used only to derive a country and are not stored in the reports.

Both analytics services receive a “Calculator used” event when you edit a measurement or choose a preset and receive a valid result. It fires at most once per service per page load, after typing settles; opening an example or a shared setup alone does not count. It includes the calculator and the original campaign labels, but no measurement values or card names. The reported page address excludes the setup query.

Advertising measurement

The same valid calculation also sends a conversion to Google Ads, at most once per page load, with no measurement values, card names, setup query or monetary value.

DisplayMath buys a small amount of advertising on Google Search, and every page loads the Google Ads tag AW-18354151770 so that those advertisements can be measured. Unlike the counters above, this tag belongs to Google, not to DisplayMath, and where it is allowed to store anything it does so with cookies. What it reports is whether a visit followed an advertisement and what happened next on this site; it never receives your name, your email address or the values you type into the calculator, because none of those are passed to it.

The tag ships with Google's consent mode set to deny advertising and analytics storage for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, where storing such a cookie requires consent that this site does not yet ask for. In those places the tag can send a cookieless, aggregated signal and nothing else. Elsewhere, storage starts granted, which is what makes a click on an advertisement measurable. The tag is never loaded on a local copy of the site. You can opt out of personalised Google advertising anywhere through Google My Ad Center, and blocking cookies in your browser removes the storage entirely; the calculator works the same either way.

Requests the site does make

Hosting and delivery. The site is served through Cloudflare, which sees the requests any web server sees. The site reads the visitor's country from Cloudflare's headers once per visit, to choose default units (inches or centimetres).
Augmented reality previews. On an iPhone, the "See on your wall" and measuring-tape features request a small 3D model from DisplayMath's own server, with the screen dimensions and the card's name, or the tape length, in the request. That request is not logged beyond standard server access logs, which are kept briefly for operational purposes.
Text versions for software readers. A shared comparison link is also rendered as plain text, Markdown or JSON on DisplayMath's own server, so that assistants and search engines that do not run JavaScript can read it. That service logs only the kind of software asking (a browser, a named search or assistant crawler) and how many displays the link held, never the link, the measurements or the display names.
Fonts and scripts. Calculator assets are served from displaymath.com. Analytics and advertising scripts are described above. There are no embedded social widgets.

If you write to hello@displaymath.com, the message is kept for as long as it takes to answer it and act on it, and is not added to any list. There is no newsletter.

The free calculators do not require personal information.
